This site is an archive of LinSys Software, an early Linux consulting firm active from approximately 2004 to 2012. The original company is no longer operating. This archive preserves the technical documentation — particularly the KGDB kernel debugger documentation — that was widely cited across the Linux ecosystem during the company’s active years.
For corrections or additional context
If you spot inaccuracies in the archived material, have original screenshots or supplementary documentation we’ve missed, or were involved with LinSys Software and want to add historical context, please get in touch. We particularly welcome:
- Personal recollections of working with LinSys engineering teams
- Historical context about specific client engagements (anonymized as appropriate)
- Pointers to KGDB binary downloads or source-code archives we should link to
- Cross-references to academic citations of KGDB in your research
- Modern Linux kernel debugging articles you’d like us to link from this archive
For researchers using this archive
If you’re citing material from this site in academic work or technical documentation, the Wayback Machine snapshot timestamps we used as source are recorded in the page metadata. Most pages here are from 2009-2011 (corporate content) or 2004-2005 (KGDB documentation). We can provide additional provenance details on request.
For modern Linux kernel development questions
We don’t provide technical support for current Linux kernel issues. For those, the canonical resources are the Linux Kernel Mailing List (LKML), the kernel documentation tree, and stackoverflow.com’s kernel-dev tag. For commercial Linux consulting, Collabora, Bootlin, and Igalia are reputable modern equivalents to the kind of work LinSys did.
Please use the contact form when available. We aim to respond within 1-2 weeks.
